Rules & Registration

Tuition

Tuition is based on a ten month calendar year.  It is due on the 25th of each month and is considered late on the first of the next month.  You will incur a $20 late fee if tuition is not received by the first.  If tuition is not received by the 5th of the month you will begin to incur a $10 late fee for everyday that tuition is not received.  If you are more than one month behind in tuition your child will not be allowed to participate in class until your account is brought current.

Tuition may be paid by check or cash.  There is a $50 return check fee.

30 days advanced notice is required if you decide to stop taking classes.  If no notice is given, you will be responsible for tuition payments.

Attire

Each student will need a black leotard (no skirts), pink tights, black tap shoes (no ties), and black jazz shoes.  Each child will also need a bag to keep their shoes in.  Please write your child/children’s names inside of their shoes.

Hair must be secured in a bun.  If it is too short for a bun, please make sure it secured out of their face.

Hip Hop Attire

Girls: Black leotard, pink tights, and dance pants/dance shorts are permitted.  Dance Sneakers, Jazz Shoes, or any sneakers are permitted.  It is strongly recommended that your child wear clothing that covers their knees or bring knee pads to class.

Calendar and Events

Performing Arts Academy of Virginia Beach follows Virginia Beach Public Schools.  If schools are closed for holidays and/ or inclement weather, we will also be closed. If schools release early for bad weather, our evening programs will be canceled.  This does not include teacher work days.

If a class is canceled, we will do our best to reschedule the class. However, there is no refund if you cannot make the make-up class.

If your child misses a class, they may attend another class to make up for their absence.  There is no refund or prorating of tuition for missed classes.

Each of you have received a calendar that has all of our special events.  All of our events are free for our PAA students.  There is a five dollar charge for any siblings that would like to join us. For parent’s night, PAA will provide dinner for the kid.  We do ask, however, that you send a snack to share (this can include plates, napkins, cups, drinks).

The only event that is not on the calendar is our end of the year recital.  The tentative date is the first weekend in June.  Dress rehearsal will be that Saturday and the show will be Sunday.

Costumes

Costumes are $75 per costume.

Creative Movement: 1 costume

Beginning Ballet and Tap: 2 costumes

Ballet I, Tap I, Jazz I: 3 costumes

Jr Co.: 3 costumes

Int. Co: 4 costumes

Adv. Co: 4 Costumes

Hip Hop will use clothing you already have.   Therefore, there is no charge for costume.

First costume instalment is due: October 1, 2014

Second costume instalment is due: February 1, 2015

Third costume instalment is due: May 1, 2015

Costumes will be handed out when paid for in full. Costume money is nonrefundable!!

 

Behavior and Etiquette

Performing Arts Academy has set out to be more than just a dance studio.  Too many of our students the, is a second home, and we have created a family all of our own.  Please remember that a positive, pleasant attitude is expected at all times.  We will always refer to each other in positive and encouraging ways.  If using social media (this includes texting) you will only use it in positive manner.  We will not start nor participate in idle gossip.

When attending an event outside of our studio, we ask that you please be professional, courteous and supportive of other dancers and their dance schools. These are things that, I the owner, take very seriously.   My expectations do not just apply to the students but to my wonderful dance parents as well.  At PAA we do our best to meet the needs of every family and attempt to do everything in the most organized and effective manner possible.  However, we realize that we may do something that does not work for you or your student.  Instead of complaining in the waiting room, please come talk to Ms. Keller directly.

Anything posted to social media by a parent or child that is derogatory to a student or the studio is grounds for immediate dismissal from the studio.

Studio Rules

Please be punctual for class.  Entering late is very disruptive to the rest of the class.

Be respectful to your teachers and other classmates at all times.

No food in the studio, dressing room or waiting area at any time.  Water is the only beverage permitted inside the dressing room and waiting area.

Please do not send your child into the studio with toys.  They can become very distracting and hard at times for the child to part with.

Please do your best to keep the studio clean by discarding trash and taking all of your belongings home with you.
